Blizzard Bash Demo Derby
Not long after I arrived in the U.S., I stumbled upon a demolition derby broadcast on TNN. As a curious Korean teenager, I couldn't grasp its allure but found myself intrigued by the spectacle of cars smashing into each other.
Standing amidst the mayhem of a state fair's demolition derby, I began to understand its appeal as a beloved American pastime. This fascination led me to document numerous derby heats across the Pacific Northwest.
My quest for the ultimate derby experience took me to Topeka, Kansas, where I witnessed the Blizzard Bash, a convergence of people from all walks of life united by their love for vehicular destruction.
Beneath the surface of this seemingly reckless pursuit lies a world of strategy, teamwork, and daring driving skills. It's an art form I've come to appreciate.
As I look back on the photos, I can still feel the jolts reverberating through me, each impact etching itself into my memory. There's an addictiveness to the chaos, a magnetic pull that keeps me returning for more, each crash stirring a fundamental excitement.
